Nuspan provides a one stop package inclusive of levelling compound for Barratt David Wilson, North Thames

28 Feb 2021

Nuspan has long been supplying one of the UK’s leading housebuilders, Barratt Developments PLC with our bespoke MMC insulated precast concrete floor units, the offsite alternative to block and beam which includes design, manufacture, installation and a levelling compound finishing package.

The benefit of our turnkey solution has shone through on the recent Clipstone project for BDW North Thames. With the ability to install up to 400m2 (10 plots) per day in the right conditions, Nuspan is helping the division make light work of this 196 plot project.

Luke Hammonds, Site manager for BDW North Thames commented that “Speed is definitely the key advantage with Nuspan, we found there was a lot less excess waste on site and we had less people on site, which given the current situation around Covid-19, was a great logistical benefit.”

The division chose to finish the floors with a levelling compound instead of screed negating the need for coursing bricketts, DPM, perimeter strip and structural screed providing cost savings.

Nuspan also provided the levelling compound package, returning between first and second fix to bring the floors to the required SR2 British standard finish, mitigating risk with an all-in package and negating the need for a latex in the flooring contractors package providing further savings.

“The all-in turn key solution was great, logistically it worked so much better than using a supply only option, everything simply came on one lorry and got laid straight onto the substructure. I would definitely recommend Nuspan” commented Luke Hammonds.

Paul Gasper, Senior Technical Manager said “There are definitely benefits to both the supply only, and supply and fit options with Nuspan, it purely depends on your project requirements, but they are both great choices. With Nuspan, the speed and ability to get greater spans, so you can omit some intermediate low bearing foundations and forth walls, is definitely the key advantage and I would happily recommend Nuspan.”
